Whats up with Jeremy Lin?

NBA first American Taiwanese NBA player Jeremy Lin 台裔美籍球星林書豪My friend Steve, got my attention about the phenomenon that occurred a couple of months back with Jeremy Lin. Basically the story goes, that he is an Asian American basketball player who attended high school ball in California, played at Harvard and wasn’t highly touted. The troubling thing for me, is that I am also of Asian descent and I have noticed the same type of overlooking a person due to his race. If you read about Jeremy’s accomplishments http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Lin, you would think that he is pretty good ball player. But you notice he wasn’t heavily recruited for college nor drafted in the NBA. But when he finally got his chance with the Knicks this year, by watching the highlights you can see he can flat out play.

I just think there is to much emphasis on the race to determine their skill set. We should be basing his ability as a ball player or person, than thinking,’he is asian, too short, can’t jump, not aggressive.” I will be keeping an eye on ‘LinSanity’ and hope I get to watch a live game sometime soon.

It appears that Lin is the best player on the Knicks, even though they supposedly have a couple superstars on the team, but they apparently don’t care about the team concept. The shots Lin made against the Lakers were great.
