Tubing Communication Theory
When I was in my college years, I would spend time with my friends at house parties or events where there were always new people to talk to. Now this may have been a result of the alcohol that was available at these get togethers, but it always seemed that the communication between people was sometimes very difficult. Sometimes you could meet someone and there would be this free flowing, ‘hey I understand where you are coming from’ type of communication. while other times I would be talking to someone, they would look at me but I could see there was a lot of empty space behind the eyes that shouted, “I don’t get what you are saying at all, but I’ll be polite and nod!” Some days would go by and I would be in school learning about Chemistry 101 when “WHAM!” I would receive this epiphany about that conversation from the other day and it finally occurred to me what they were talking about.
Let me explain further
I called this communication phenomena the “Tubing Communication Theory”
, I made that up. Imagine as you talk that a tube like object starts moving out of your forehead as you speak, now if you are having a great conversation with someone else, they also have a tube that moves toward you and then they will connect when you have free flowing communication.
In the second situation, the tube comes out of each person’s forehead as they talk, but because they don’t understand each other the tubes fall drastically to the ground which is the result of complete lack of communication.
The third situation is when you realize something at a later date, this happens when the tube from that person comes out, passes your left ear at supersonic speed, flies into next week and then while you are sitting in class that tube eventually comes back and slams into your forehead.
Now I know this all doesn’t really make sense, but if you visualize it and then spend some time the next time at a party, work, or a get together and analyze it with this theory. Then you will see how valid it is. Do you have any other forms of communication or theories like my Tubing Communication Theory? Follow me on Twitter so we can communicate! @webdevpatches
