Learn how to better use Twitter
Since Twitter has become my main vehicle for social media interaction I will further discuss some simple concepts and ways to better maintain your account. Please create a Twitter account if you don’t already have one, and review this past post to get started. If you want to learn how to better use Twitter, you should follow these simple rules. Be generous with your Retweets, read through links before adding comments, follow only users that will help you create the group you want.
To better explain these simple rules let me walk you through them. When you are generous with your retweets you will find more engagement with other users, as they will more readily recognize your generosity as well as the fact you are showing interest in them. This will in time increase your interactivity as well give the image to others of your attentiveness and knowledge about what they tweet.
Before commenting on a tweet or replying please make sure you open up the link in the tweet and read through. If you add a comment or just retweet without knowing the contents of the site, you may end up very embarrassed as the link maybe navigates to a site you don’t want to be associated with. Also if you comment about the article based off the title, if that title isn’t indicative of the contents of the post you may sound pretty dumb.
There are many posts about the type of followers you want to associate with. When starting out you don’t end up being to picky as you build your following, but if you want engagement you must decide what type of followers you want. Then if you use the proper tools and time you can filter out the spam bots that proliferate the twitter streams.
If you are using an iPhone I would recommend using TwitPal since it is a very comprehensive application for managing your account, but for a free app that handles multiple accounts and has notications use EchoFon.
