How to Hack your HD2

androidThis might be a shock for most of you out there, but I have been using a T-Mobile HTC HD2 almost 2 years now. In this day of new gadgets and new smartphones to drop cash down for, in my life that isn’t viable. So I have made the most out of this phone. When this phone was released it was the most sought after phone for a couple of months, I called around numerous stores to pick this up. The hardware specs are not to shabby, but what kills the phone was the horrid Windows OS 6.5. It was buggy to a fault, would freeze when making a call and then using Google navigation, I popped the battery, 100 times or more. I then returned it 2 more times in hopes that it was just my phone. But I should have known better. But when you get to know me I am stubborn to a fault. Well as the story goes I ended up using the extended warranty to get 2 more replacement phones, over the next 6 months. Basically used the phone to watch youtube, make calls, check email and browse the web, but none of these tasks at the same time. I don’t believe this is the reason to have a smart phone and pay for the data plan. Then in December of 2011, I bit the bullet and finally hacked and wiped my phone from that awful OS. I installed all these steps to hack your hd2, using this guy’s page,  http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/08/15/how-to-install-cwm-nand-android-on-htc-hd2-video/. And BAM I had a working Froyo 2.2 Android working. Sad to say this story still isn’t over, that ROM was so buggy that I ended up looking for a replacement a week later. I found the Cynagon Mod ROMS, and installed CM7, this worked like a champ other than occasional freezing.. After you follow the steps and use Magldr to boot into ClockworkMod I always do a data wipe, on cache as well, then install the ROM off of zip, then go back into CWM and select backup/restore and go to advanced, then you can select data to get all your information back. This won’t work if this is a different ROM, but will on a different version. A lot of trial and error is involved until you get comfortable. So as of now I have installed Miui ROM and It has been fantastic, very iOS, and has alot of customizable themes and functionality. Now to hold out till my contract is over in June to go to Verizone, and buy my first iPhone 4s!
